1985- 1993


On June 29th 1985 U2 play their first concert in Croke Park. The band went on to play a further two concerts in 1987 on June 27th and 28th.


On September 21st 1986 Kerry defeated Tyrone 2-15 to 1-10. This win ensured that five Kerry players earned their 8th All-Ireland medal.


Kerry defeat Wexford 1-10 to 0-8 in the first All-Ireland Ladies Football final to be played in Croke Park.


A redeveloped Hill 16 is officially opened.


In 1992 the GAA announce plans to redevelop Croke Park in four phases over fifteen years with Gilroy McMahon as chief architects.

On September 20th 1992 Donegal, under Manager Brian McEniff, won their first All-Ireland Football Final after defeating Dublin 0-18 to 0-14.


On March 9th 1993 An Bord Pleanala grants planning permission for the redevelopment of Croke Park. Plans for the new Croke Park Stadium are unveiled and work commences on the redevelopment as the old Cusack Stand is demolished after the 1993 All-Ireland Football Final.
