On September 3rd Clare win their first All-Ireland Hurling title in 91 years defeating Offaly 1-13 to 2-8. The ‘curse’ of Biddy Early on the Clare hurling team is put to rest for once and for all.

In 1996 Phase One of the Croke Park redevelopment is completed with the opening of a new Cusack Stand.

On November 2nd 1996 an American Football clash between Navy and Notre Dame was held in Croke Park. The ‘Fighting Irish’ defeated Navy 54 to 27
1998
In September 1998 the GAA Museum was officially opened by An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern to commemorate, recognise and celebrate the GAA's contribution to Irish sporting, cultural and social life since its foundation in 1884.

Work begins on Phase Two of Croke Park’s redevelopment, the Canal End Terrace.
1999
Phase Three of Croke Park’s redevelopment began when the Hogan Stand is demolished.
