J Con

Event Summary

Delegates: 1,200

Event: Japanese Cultural Event

Sector: Domestic Association

Date: 9th November 2019

J Con is an anime (animation), manga (comic) and cosplay (performance art) and Japanese cultural event.  In 2019, for the third consecutive year, we welcomed over 1,000 JCON enthusiasts to Croke Park. The Hogan Mezzanine hosted the Main Stage and cosplay competitions while the Hogan Suite acted as the Trade Hall with over 60 exhibitors and artists. An after party was held for attendees over 18’s.

Specific Requirements & Solutions

  • Security – With enthusiastic young attendees and large numbers arriving early, management of the pre-arrival and crowd gathering was important as Croke Park is in a residential area. Guests entered and registered on level two with the Main Stage on level 4 and Trade hall on level 5 and the security team managed all movement between levels to avoid bottlenecks in areas attracting large numbers.
  • Turn Around - The 60 exhibitor Trade Hall on level 5 was completely reset for a post event after party. The trade hall closed at 6pm allowing just 2 hours to derig the full exhibition set and reset the area for the post event party with bar and dancing into the night.
  • Catering - Event organisers were keen to share the Japanese theme across the event which our creative chefs responded to with Asian inspired cuisine featured in the snack units.

Outcome

2019 was the 3rd consecutive year JCON returned to Croke Park and after a very successful event, we look forward to welcoming them back in the future.
