5 Great Content Sources To Get You Through Covid-19

22/05/2020

Look, we get it. For those of us with small children, #WFH has turned us into a kind of circus act on steroids with work, school, kids and house all being juggled in a tour de force performance that leaves us exhausted at day’s end. We collapse comatose into bed and have no time for learning musical instruments, new languages or how to bake the perfect sourdough. We’ve never even heard of “Tiger King”.

Many of us don’t have time for investing in lots of self-improvement courses and are finding it really hard to navigate through the glut of content out there.  So, we’ve put together a list of the go-to on-line meeting and event resources that you should keep in touch with for industry news, updates and to ensure you’re ready to go when Covid-19 leaves town!

EventMB

Event Manager Blog has been on the scene for some time. Started by Julius Solaris when he worked in the events industry in London, the blog is now published from Julius’s new home in Las Vegas. Combining useful “how to” blogs with product reviews and opinion pieces, EventMB has excelled itself since the start of the Coronavirus crisis with its thoughtful commentary on our rapidly changing industry and its useful recommendations, particularly around technology to power meetings and events. You can access it here

You can of course follow Event MB, or any of the other resources below, on their social channels.

Velvet Chainsaw

Velvet Chainsaw is a bit like the Travelling Wilburys, a collective or super-group comprised of individuals who’re rock stars in their own right. They operate as an advisory but their blog posts are free advice on all aspects of meetings, conferences and events including meeting objectives and formats, educational content, technology for events, data management and so on. This is a brilliant source of ideas for your next event. Check it out here.

Convene

Convene is the trading name for a collection of truly inspiring venues of all shapes and sizes located mainly on the East coast of the US. Spaces are magnificently, inspiringly configured. Food is restaurant standard. There’s great coffee and healthy snacks - on demand. The owners also have a vision around meetings and events and how well organised and managed meetings can have a transformative impact on work places. You’ll find lots of their cool ideas on the blog – access here.

The Associations

Practically all the professional associations for planners of meetings and events – International Congress & Convention Association (ICCA), International Association of Convention Centres (IACC), Professional Conference & Meetings Association (PCMA), Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE), and Meetings Professionals International (MPI), to call out a representative sample – have brilliant, relevant content that can really make your job easier on a day to day basis. In addition, many offer a variety of certificate courses that you can take on-line. Best of all many are free of charge during the Covid-19 days.

IMEX

IMEX is a massive exhibition that takes place twice yearly in Frankfurt (Spring) and Las Vegas (Autumn). The entire Business Events industry flocks to these two shows for education, networking and business exchange. Needless to say, IMEX also has a fabulous web portal that presents a vast array of great content of interest to planners of meetings and events. Check out the “insights” tab on the IMEX corporate site here.

And remember, we're getting ready to host your events at Croke Park when the time is right.

You can view our event spaces virtually in 3D here and contact our team here.
