This Month's Book

The GAA Museum is delighted to announce that our final Book Club choice for 2024 is the beautiful children’s book The Great Irish Book of Gaelic Games by Evanne Ní Chuilinn.
We love to choose a book for younger readers at this time of year and this one is the perfect present. We will be reading the book throughout December and January.

The Great Irish Book of Gaelic Games is big in size and big in content and is a great introduction to the history of our sports for kids of all ages. Gorgeous illustrations by Donough O’Malley accompany the text and Evanne teaches us everything from the basic rules of the games to the stories of the greatest players ever to grace the field.

This is a book that children will dip in and out of and return to again and again. It’s full of little-known facts, funny stories and even includes a dictionary of well-known GAA phrases. We sat down with Evanne to chat about her lovely book and you can watch it back HERE.

Author Evanne is a sports presenter and journalist working with RTÉ. She has covered everything from World Cups to Olympic Games and All-Ireland finals. She’s a proud Kilkenny Cat and Gaeilgóir.
Illustrator Donogh hails from Carrickmacross in Monaghan and has illustrated over 30 books. He works with authors from all over the world.

To celebrate choosing The Great Irish Book of Gaelic Games for our Book Club, we have a 20% discount on copies available through our online gift shop.
