Celebrating Celtic traditions

Summer Solstice Celebration

Friday 22nd June
Open to everyone (ticketed event)

The ancient festival of Midsummer will be celebrated in spectacular fashion at this special evening event for families. It will feature unique performances by the famous Armagh Rhymers, one of Ireland’s most celebrated traditional music and theatre ensembles. The Armagh Rhymers are a global phenomenon, performing at children’s theatre festivals and folk festivals around the world. Their unique show sees the performers wearing masks and costumes, while incorporating drama, dance, storytelling and traditional games into a mind-blowing hour-long spectacle. Audience participation is also encouraged!

The Armagh Rhymers will do two performances at the GAA Museum on the 22nd of June, one at 6pm and one at 8pm. Your tickets include one of these performances as well as:

  • Croke Park pitch viewings with GAA Museum tour guides
  • Access to the GAA Museum and Interactive Games Zone
  • Celtic activities in Cú Chulainn’s Den – the museum’s dedicated children’s arts and crafts studio

We are thrilled to be able to commemorate the ancient festival of Midsummer (which was also known as Bonfire Night or St. John’s Eve throughout Ireland) with the Armagh Rhymers.  The festival, which was traditionally celebrated across Ireland every year at midnight on the 23rd of June, saw fires being lit as part of a Celtic celebration honouring the goddess Áine. More recently the fires were seen to symbolise St. John the Baptist. This year, the evening will light your inner Celtic fire, as it’s guaranteed to be packed with energy, fun and creativity.

Advance online booking is required and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
Ticket prices are as follows:

Armagh Rhymers at the GAA Museum on June 22nd
Family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children): €50
Adult: €16
Student / senior (with ID): €14
Child (U16): €12
Under 3s: Free
