Central Council / Annual Congress Minute Books, 1899 - 1986

Minute books contain the record of all decisions reached by Congress, Central Council and subsidiary bodies.

Topics recorded throughout the minutes include the passing, or rejection, of motions before Annual Congress; the reading and adoption of referee reports; the sanctioning of transfers; changes to the playing rules of the Association games; policy making decisions relating to the organisation of the Association in Ireland and abroad; the purchase and development of GAA grounds and stadia; the relationship between the Association and the Irish State.

Individual topics of note include the purchase of Jones Road Sports Ground [Croke Park]; the GAA during the period 1916-1924; the removal of President Hyde as a Patron of the GAA; the organisation of the 1947 Polo Grounds Final; the outbreak of political troubles in the North of Ireland and the publication of the Report of the Commission on the GAA (McNamee Report).
