Celebrating legends of the game

The hugely popular Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series returns to Croke Park for 2023. The Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series is invites fans to join their heroes at Croke Park as they give fascinating insights into careers that were packed with brilliant moments. These tours provide fans with a fascinating insight into the careers of ten legendary GAA figures.

The GAA Legends that will lead a tour during this series include Paddy Andrews (Dublin), Rena Buckley (Cork), John Troy (Offaly), Michael Murphy (Donegal), Cora Staunton (Mayo), Paul Murphy (Kilkenny) and Denis ‘Ogie’ Moran (Kerry).

The players will be interviewed by a GAA Museum tour guide about their career, giving people a tour through their earliest memories of playing Gaelic Games, lining out for club and county, their heroes and their Croke Park memories.

Tours will run from 10th May until 16th August, to coincide with the Hurling and Football Championships.

2023 Legends Tour dates:

Paddy Andrews (Dublin)

Wednesday 10th May - 6.30pm

Seven-time Sam Maguire Cup winner, Paddy Andrews was a key member of the Dublin team, for over a decade. His first All-Ireland Senior Championship victory came in 2013 and he was part of Dublin's historic six-in-a-row winning team, from 2015 - 2020. The St. Brigid's clubman also won eleven Leinster Senior Championship titles and five National Football Leagues with the Boys in Blue.

John Troy (Offaly)

Saturday 27th May - 11am

Despite initially lining out in goals for Offaly, as a Minor, Lusmagh’s John Troy, went on to become one of the Faithful County’s most prolific forwards. John won two Senior All-Ireland medals and was also an All-Star Award recipient in 1999.

Paul Murphy (Kilkenny)

Saturday 8th July - 11am

During his inter-county career with The Cats, Paul Murphy won the Liam MacCarthy Cup on four occasions, alongside five Leinster Senior Championship titles and three National Leagues. The Danesfort defender also received three All-Star Awards. In 2022, Paul switched codes from hurling to football and was part of the Kilkenny team that won the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship.

Lee Keegan (Mayo)

Saturday 15th July - 11am

2016 Footballer of the Year, Lee Keegan represented the green and red of Mayo at the highest level, for eleven years. The versatile Westport clubman was selected as an All-Star on five occasions. He won seven Connacht Senior Championships, one National Football League and represented Ireland in the International Rules Series. Since retiring from inter-county duties earlier this year, Lee has taken up a new role in broadcasting, as a Gaelic football analyst.

Pádraic Maher (Tipperary)

Saturday 22nd July - 2pm

Hailing from the Thurles Sarsfield Club, six-time All-Star, Pádraic Maher was a mainstay of the Tipperary defence for over a decade. He achieved All-Ireland honours at every level with the Premier County, claiming two Minor Championship medals and one U21 Championship title, before enjoying Liam MacCarthy Cup success in 2010, 2016 and 2019. Following his retirement from playing duties in 2022, Pádraic has been involved in involved in management, with his club and county.

Denis ‘Ógie’ Moran (Kerry)

Saturday 29th July - 2pm

GAA Museum Hall of Fame inductee, Denis Ógie’ Moran won All Ireland Senior Football championships with Kerry in 1975, 1978 – 1981 and 1984 – 1986. Remarkably, Ógie played in every single minute of those eight All-Ireland final triumphs and lined-out in the same position, each time. Over the course of his twelve-year senior inter-county career, Ógie also won 11 Munster Senior Championship medals, 3 National Leagues and was an All-Star Award recipient in 1981.

Rena Buckley (Cork)

Saturday 5th August - 11am

One of the most decorated players in the history of Gaelic games, dual-star Rena Buckley won eleven All-Ireland Senior Ladies Gaelic Football Championships and seven All-Ireland Senior Camogie Championships during her distinguished career with the Rebel County. Rena is an eleven-time All-Star Award winner and in 2015 had the distinction of being selected as the Irish Times ‘Sportswoman of the Year’, alongside her Cork teammate, Briege Corkery.

Cora Staunton (Mayo)

Saturday 12th August - 11am

After joining the Mayo senior ladies panel at the age of thirteen, Cora Staunton went on to win every honour in the sport during her expansive twenty-four year inter-county career. She was a Brendan Martin Cup winner on four occasions, claimed three National League titles and is an eleven-time All-Star recipient. Cora also enjoyed great success in the Australian Football League, where she played for Great Western Sydney Giants, before announcing her retirement, earlier this year.
