Community Working Group
At our last local community meeting held in the new Sackville Avenue handball centre on September 30th, it was agreed by most of the nearly 150 neighbours in attendance to form a local community working group to work together to further improve solutions that lessen the impact of stadium events on the local community.
Following the open invitation extended to join the working group, residents who put themselves forward met online in late October with senior management from the stadium, An Garda Síochána and Aiken Promotions. The meeting was chaired by our independent chairperson Noeline Blackwell.
Several specific issues were raised and discussed and following on from this first meeting, there have been a number of direct actions. Senior local gardaí are meeting with neighbours representing the Dublin 7 residents district, and senior management in the stadium are reviewing their overall event day management structure and communications model for residents based on the feedback received.
What’s happening now:
- The stadium is continuing to work on developing our community plans for 2022. Any resident who would like to put themselves forward to join the local community group and work with the stadium over the coming months is very welcome to do so. Please contact our Community Team in Croke Park if you would like to join – [email protected]
- Any local resident who would like to take a few moments to fill in a community feedback survey to highlight the impact of stadium events on their road/street over the past season and suggest possible new community gain initiatives for the local area, to complement the work of the local community working group can do so here
- Working together with our neighbours, we are keen to identify new locations for portaloos for the 2022 season. Please get in touch with suggestions for further areas/streets where portaloos could possibly be located and be welcomed by residents. Again, you can contact the Community Team at [email protected] with your feedback on this particular issue.
