Remember & Create Together:
Fighting Words Local Community Project

The local community around Croke Park are an integral part of our programme of events. To create a legacy together, the GAA Museum and Croke Park Community Team have teamed up with 'Fighting Words' on a project that will engage with local residents to create a lasting piece of work to commemorate this very important year.

Due to Public Health advice around the spread of Covid-19 the plan for face-to-face workshops has been postponed. Instead, we are delighted to bring our workshops online so you can join in from the comfort of your kitchen!

Starting in October Fighting Words volunteers will facilitate online group video chats with locals to discover more about the area and its people. The chats will cover general history as well as stories and accounts of Bloody Sunday which may have been passed down orally within the community. We hope that following these workshops, participants can write their memories down and we can publish a collection of these stories with you the local community as the authors.

You don't have to have any writing experience to take part.

What do you have to do? Grab a cup of tea and make sure you have access to Zoom. The online workshops will begin in late October.

How do I get involved? If you would like to join in, please get in touch with Julianne Savage ([email protected]) in Croke Park with your contact details.

About Fighting Words:
Located beside Croke Park on Behan Square, the aim of Fighting Words is to help children, young people and adults to discover and harness the power of their own imaginations and creative writing skills. At its core, Fighting Words is about using the creative practice of writing and storytelling to strengthen our children and teenagers – from a wide range of backgrounds – to be resilient, creative and successful shapers of their own lives.
