GAA Museum Summer School 2017
The GAA Summer School returns to Croke Park from Thursday 29th June to Saturday 1st July. This year’s theme is titled ‘Sports and Politics’ and will examine the effects sport and politics have had on one another since codified sports appeared in Ireland.
Full details of the programme and speakers are to be announced, but current topics include:
- The affect the Parnell Crisis had on the GAA
- The split in Irish soccer
- The trauma Hillsborough inflicted on a city
- The relationship between politics and the early Irish Olympic movement
Speakers lined up include Richard McElligott, Cormac Moore, John Hughson, Kevin McCarthy, Dónal McAnallen and Brian Hanley, with more to be announced.
Tickets cost €45 per day or €120 for a three day pass. Tea / Coffee and lunch are included in the price.
