Hair hurling ball from Lavally, County Sligo, 1410-1425AD

Made from matted animal hair (most likely from cattle) witha plaited horsehair covering, this was discovered in 1966 during turf-cuttingin a bog on the Sligo-Leitrim border. Part of a collection in the National Museum of Ireland.
