World Stadium Congress Awards

Croke Park was one of the recent winners at the World Stadium Congress Awards at the Amsterdam Arena when the stadium won a Community Integration Award for its wide-ranging programme of community gain projects and events.

From a specially subsidised annual summer camp to a senior citizens Christmas party that celebrated its ‘Sweet 16’ last year, Croke Park’s year-round community programme caters for its neighbours of all ages.

The stadium also has a community fund that has allocated over €900,000 in support to local community groups since 2009.

The award also recognised Croke Park’s innovative community team which consists entirely of local residents from the stadium’s community area.  The team was established in 2014 and now employs over twenty local residents who help keep watch over the local area and assist their neighbours during Croke Park events.

Accepting the award in Amsterdam on behalf of Croke Park was the stadium’s community & public affairs officer Julianne Savage who said the award recognises Croke Park’s wide-ranging events & programmes that benefit its neighbours as well as the stadium’s long-term commitment to the development to the community area through the Sackville Avenue regeneration project in partnership with Dublin City Council.
