Special local creative writing project launched

Calling all our local senior citizens in our community area…

As part of the GAA Museum’s programme of events this year to remember the tragic events of Bloody Sunday in Croke Park on November 21st, 1920, we are teaming up with nearby creative writing centre 'Fighting Words' on Russell Street to launch a new community project.

We are looking for local senior citizens who would be interested in attending free writing workshops focusing on local history and stories.  If you like telling stories or have an interest in local history, then this is for you!

Fighting Words volunteers will facilitate these workshops to discover more about the local area and its people. The chats will cover general history as well as stories and accounts of Bloody Sunday which may have been passed down orally within our community.

We hope that after the workshops, we can publish a book of these stories with you our neighbours as the authors. This is a great opportunity for unknown stories and people to be remembered and captured forever.
It's very important to stress, you don’t have to have any writing experience to take part!

Who are we looking for?
Senior citizens who live in the local area around Croke Park.

What do you have to do?
Be available to attend a series of writing workshops at Fighting Words, Behan Square, Russell Street. The workshops will take place at 6pm om Tuesday evenings. They will be held twice a month over the course of three months and each session will last approx. 2 hours. The workshops will begin in March 2020.

How do I get involved?
If you are free to commit to the six workshops, please get in touch with Julianne Savage in Croke Park with your contact details. You can email her or drop in a letter marked for her attention to the GAA reception on Jones Road - please don’t forget to include your contact details.
