Speaker of the German Bundestag visits Croke Park

24 February 2017:

Croke Park warmly welcomed Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert, Speaker of the German Bundestag, while on a three day visit to Dublin. Professor Lammert ranks second after the President under the German constitution.

He led a delegation which included members of the Bundestag, Michael Grosse-Brömer and Britta Haßelmann, as well as the German Ambassador to Ireland, H.E. Matthias Höpfner.

Uachtarán Chumann Lúthchleas Gael, Aogán Ó Fearghail, greeted Professor Lammert at the GAA Museum and presented him with a GAA jersey, hurley and sliothar.

The group were then guided around the GAA Museum, which celebrates the rich cultural, social and sporting heritage of our national games. Professor Lammert was delighted to be given the opportunity to test his hurling and Gaelic football skills in the museum’s interactive area!

Afterwards, the group proceeded to the Etihad Skyline on the rooftop of Croke Park, where they were treated to panoramic 360° views of the city and Dublin Bay, while Cian their guide gave them insights into Dublin’s celebrated landmarks.
