The GAA Museum praises cross-border partnership on International Museum Day

The team at the GAA Museum were delighted to be recently partnered with the excellent Irish Linen Centre and Lisburn Museum as part of the Interpreting Museums programme organised in collaboration with the IMA (Irish Museums Association) and NIMC (Northern Ireland Museums Council) and funded by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media.

The programme aimed to build stronger working relationships between museums on a cross-border basis.

The two museums worked together to create this short video, a fitting reminder of the struggles those in the museum community have faced over the past year. It also explores how two very different museums are so similar in many ways and celebrates the collegial relationship between museum employees the world over.

On this International Museum Day, where the theme looks to the recovery of museums and the re-imagining of our spaces, it’s the perfect opportunity to reflect on a year that has taken us all in a very different direction.
