First high density WiFi network deployed in Ireland at Croke Park

18/09/2016

eir Business has launched Ireland’s first high density WiFi deployment at Croke Park Meetings & Events.  The new network operates across the venue’s meeting and events facilities and also supports stadium operations on match days.

The high quality, high density WiFi network opens up unrivalled internet access at the venue.  Up to 26,000 patrons including Corporate and Premium Level clients can avail of excellent internet connectivity on match day while the  Croke Park Operations teams will leverage the network for ticketing; ePOS, telephony services and Internet of Things purposes.

Croke Park Meetings & Events can now offer event organisers and delegates the best WiFi coverage in Ireland and provide them with uncongested internet access and high down-load and upload speeds.

Eavann Murphy, Chief Commercial Officer, eir Business said, “This is the first and only high density WiFi deployment in Ireland - from Ireland’s largest internet services provider - and it is a game-changer! The quality of WiFi access is a big plus for Croke Park’s Meetings & Events business providing uncongested internet access for delegates.  Event and Concert organisers need only plug in to Croke Park’s WiFi network rather than bringing their own, whilst Croke Park Corporate and Premium level patrons will experience the best Match Day WiFi services in Ireland, so there is a new game at play in Croke Park.”

GAA Commercial & Stadium Director, Peter McKenna, said, “Our High Density WiFi network is a real point of differentiation for us at Croke Park Meetings & Events and we are now in a position to deliver internet connectivity and services to our clients that we were not in a position to deliver previously. Thanks to eir Business, we now have an unrivalled WiFi experience for delegates and patrons in Croke Park providing us with the agility and flexibility to run Croke Park’s business of meetings, hospitality, large scale concerts and events. It also affords us the opportunity to leverage our investment for the GAA at a national level by, for example, providing these same premium services, routed through Croke Park, into our National Games Development Centre in Abbotstown.”
