Croke Park partners with AIB Merchant Services

Croke Park has announced that it has partnered with AIB Merchant Services, supported by Visa, as it moves to a cashless payment solutions model across the majority of concession units in the stadium. This will support its vision of providing the fastest possible service to patrons with a view to reducing queueing times for fans, giving them increased time to enjoy their experience at the Stadium. The investment sees over 400 Clover terminals installed across the stadium’s 90 concession units, resulting in 80% of transaction locations being totally cashless.

Croke Park will still maintain limited cash services across its food and drink concession units, with one till at each unit still accepting cash for those wishing to use it. However, the stadium is encouraging visitors to remember to bring their digital wallet (Apple Pay or Google Pay), debit or credit card with them to avoid potentially longer queues when choosing to pay by cash.

The installation of cashless technology Clover Terminals, provided by AIB Merchant Services, will provide Croke Park with market leading technology to make customer experience seamless. They will allow for increased efficiencies in reporting on cashless trends across the stadium.

Michael Teahan, Financial Controller, Croke Park Stadium said “We are pleased to implement the Clover payment solution throughout Croke Park.  The increased transaction speed and shorter queue times at our food and beverage units will help to enhance the customer experience and internal efficiencies.”

Hubert O’Donoghue, General Manager, AIB Merchant Services said “As Ireland’s leading payment solutions provider, we are delighted to have partnered with Croke Park on this major investment in providing their visitors with best in class payment solutions. We have seen a major shift in customer trends over the past two years as they shift away from cash towards card payments, something that’s evident across all sectors of society as card payments across our customer base increase.”

Dominic White, Country Manager, Ireland, Visa said, “As we all look forward to returning to live events, our local economies are set to feel the benefits. We’re proud to support AIB Merchant Services and the digital enhancement of Croke Park ahead of what’s expected to be a busy year for the stadium. With over 70% of Irish consumers surveyed by Visa planning to tap to pay wherever possible, the increased accessibility of contactless payments throughout the venue will help create an even better match day experience for spectators.”

Throughout Croke Park, tills will accept all major debit and credit cards, with contactless payments available for up to €50. Chip and Pin, Mobile and digital wallet payments, including Apple Pay and Google Pay will also be available throughout the stadium.
