Croke Park Community Team

The Croke Park Community Officer and members of the Croke Park Community Team will be on duty on Friday, May 27th and Sunday, May 29th to assist local residents and monitor event day activity in the Croke Park community area.

Community Hotline

Freephone 1800 303 593 is Croke Park’s community hotline number for local residents.  You can use it to request assistance or to report any issue directly to the stadium during the concerts. An email address is also available to local residents to use to contact the stadium.

Garda Cordon

The Garda cordon will be in place from approximately 2pm on concert days to enhance parking control and local resident access. The 2016 local resident parking pass for households within the Garda cordon is available from the Garda Station on Fitzgibbon Street: telephone 01 666 8400. Please bring proof of identity and proof of residency with you to the station to collect your pass.

It is expected that there will be high levels of foot traffic in the community area arriving for the concerts from approximately 5pm-7.30pm on both evenings.

Garda Cordon Extended After Concerts

At the end of each concert, the Garda cordon will be extended to facilitate the safe exit of concert patrons. No vehicles will be permitted to access the Garda cordon during this exit period in order to ensure the safety of pedestrians and vehicles alike. These closures will be implemented for the shortest time necessary. As a guideline this extended cordon will be in place for approximately one hour after each concert ends at 11pm. Barriers will also be erected at the following locations closing the following streets:

  • Lower Drumcondra Road / Whitworth Road
  • Lower Drumcondra Road / Richmond Road/Botanic Avenue
  • Ballybough Road / Luke Kelly Bridge
  • Ballybough Road / North Strand Road
  • Summerhill / North Circular Road
  • The above restrictions will also result in the closure of Lower Drumcondra Road from Whitworth Road to Botanic Avenue and the closure of Ballybough Road from Fairview to Summerhill.

Local Residents Requiring Special Assistance

Local residents who require special assistance for themselves, family or friends gaining access through the Garda cordon on Friday, 27th May or Sunday, 29th May, are advised to contact the Croke Park Community Officer Julianne Savage in advance

Public Transport/Parking Plans

Working with the concert promoter, Dublin City Council, An Garda Síochana and the National Transport Authority, a full public transport & car parking information campaign targeting concert patrons is ongoing. Special car parking offers from car parks nearest the stadium are available to concert patrons and additional Dublin Bus, LUAS, Irish Rail & Bus Eireann public transport initiatives to and from the concerts have been organised.  Gardaí & Dublin Street Park Services will be enforcing parking legislation throughout the community area and there will be specific coach & bus parking areas on the Alfie Byrne Road in operation.

Noise Control

To ensure concert noise emissions are kept within Dublin City Council (DCC) guidelines, the following measures are in place:

  • Sound levels will be agreed with DCC’s Environmental Health Officer
  • The Production Manager and Sound Control Engineer for the concerts will be instructed to control sound emission levels to keep them within these agreed limits
  • The testing of the concert sound systems and the artist’s sound check will be agreed with DCC’s Environmental Health Officer with due consideration for local residents
  • In addition to the measures, sound levels will be checked during the event by sound meters and a suitably qualified noise consultant will be appointed to monitor noise levels and liaise between DCC and the Promoter

PA Test & Sound Checks

A PA test is scheduled to be conducted from approximately 6pm on Thursday, 26th May. This timing may be still subject to change. The sound checks for the concerts will be carried out on Friday, 27th and Sunday 29th at approximately 2pm. Again, these sound check timings may also be subject to change.    Should any of these times change, the latest information will be updated here on the Croke Park website when confirmed by the concert promoter and Dublin City Council.

Stage Lighting Test

Stage lighting tests are scheduled to take place during the hours of darkness on Thursday, 26th May 2016. This testing will take place up to midnight but will not require stadium floodlights.

Overnight Queuing/Camping

Overnight queuing or camping will not be tolerated. Stadium stewards will be on duty on streets close to the stadium from 7pm Thursday, 26th May to deter overnight queuing/camping in the community area.

Concert Clean Up

Additional community litter teams will be active during both concerts and will work to remove concert litter from gardens within the Garda cordon.

Use Of Garda Helicopter

The Garda Helicopter will be used on the evenings of Friday, 27th May and Sunday, 29th May 2016. It will only be used as required by the Gardaí and with minimum time spent in operation.

Floodlights

Floodlights will remain on until patrons have cleared the stadium on both concert nights. Subsequent to clearing the stadium, only lights necessary to provide safe working conditions will be in operation. All floodlights will be switched off at 1am on the night of each show.
