Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tours launched

Clare’s Brian Lohan and Donegal’s Eamon McGee today launched this year’s Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour Series at Croke Park. Over the summer months they will be joined by a host of other football and hurling greats who will lead exclusive tours of Croke Park Stadium and the GAA Museum.

As well as Lohan and McGee, GAA legends including Martin O’Connell (Meath), Martin Storey (Wexford), Tommy Walsh (Kilkenny), Kieran Donaghy (Kerry) and Joe and Aaron Kernan (Armagh) will reflect on their careers in the surrounds of Croke Park. The tour series begins on Saturday, June 8th with Martin O’Connell.

These special tours offer GAA fans an unforgettable opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes guided stadium tour in the company of a former player to hear his personal memories and anecdotes of playing big match days with club and county in Croke Park.

Bord Gáis Energy Retail Director Colin Bebbington said; “We’re extremely proud of our eleven-year partnership with the GAA and are delighted to launch the seventh year of the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tours today.

“Over the past decade, this partnership has enabled us to make a positive difference in communities right across the country. We know our customers love Gaelic Games and through the Bord Gáis Energy Rewards Club, we offer our customers unmissable GAA rewards throughout the season, including the Bord Gáis Energy GAA Legends Tour.

“Who better to lead the tours of the famous stadium than the players who have lit up the championship in both football and hurling over the years and are held in such high regard in the communities from which they come.”

Niamh McCoy, Director at the GAA Museum added; “Since the inception of the Legends tour series in 2008, the GAA Museum has welcomed some of the biggest names in GAA history to relive their memories and entertain our visitors in what is a unique experience.

We would like to thank Bord Gáis Energy for their ongoing support of the series. We’re looking forward to another successful year, and we promise another stellar line up.”

Four-time All-Star Brian Lohan was a mainstay on the Clare hurling team for over a decade winning two All-Ireland titles along the way. Eamon McGee was part of the Donegal team that lifted Sam Maguire after defeating Mayo in the 2012 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship Final.
