Bealtaine Festival with the GAA Museum Book Club

The GAA Museum Book Club is delighted to announce our next live event as part of the Bealtaine Festival.

One of our most popular Book Club choices from the past year was All-Star Gazing by Moira Dunne and Eileen Dunne. Both authors will join us at the museum to chat about their research and interviews for the book, taking on such a huge project and launching the book during the pandemic.

The event will also include a ticket to the GAA Museum where guests can view some of the medal collections, jerseys and personal belongings of All-Star winners in our Hall of Fame and other exhibitions.
This event takes place at 11am on Monday May 29th. Tickets are free, but must be booked in advance Places are limited, so please only book if you can attend.

About All Star Gazing:

All Star Gazing was published in November 2021 to mark the 50th anniversary of the GAA All-Stars. Authors Moira and Eileen Dunne are daughters of Mick Dunne, who along with his fellow journalists, Paddy Downey, John D Hickey and Pádraig Puirséal, got the All-Stars scheme up and running in 1971.

Using their father’s records as a starting point, the sisters met over 100 All-Stars and other stakeholders, who shared their memories of All-Star banquets, All-Star trips and the importance of the awards.

The book also includes a listing of each Football and Hurling All-Star team from 1971 to 2020, and for the first time ever, a complete list of all players nominated over the past 50 years.
