This Month's Book
The GAA Museum is delighted to announce that our next Book Club choice for 2024 is A Place to Play by Humphrey Kelleher. We will be reading the book throughout April and May.
A Place to Play takes readers on a spellbinding tour of 101 GAA County Grounds across all 32 counties and tells the stories of the people and communities in each location. Accompanied by wonderful photography, this meticulously researched book is a celebration of GAA playing fields and provides in-depth histories of the grounds including their purchase, growth and character.
Author Humphrey Kelleher travelled to each pitch over a ten-year period to complete his research and the result is a unique publication with beautiful imagery and fascinating facts.
This is the second time we have chosen one of Humphrey’s books for the GAA Museum Book Club having read Family Silver previously. The author played hurling and football at intercounty level for Waterford and also managed the Dublin senior hurling team in 2004 / 2005.

GAA Museum Library & Archive
The Book Club aims to raise awareness and celebrate the GAA Museum Library & Archive - the national repository for the GAA’s records, archives and publications. Its mission is to collect a copy of every book published by the GAA and every book written about the GAA. The GAA Museum and its archives house almost 20,000 items in its collection. Readers, researchers and students can access the archive in Croke Park by appointment when it’s safe to do so. Until then you can search the archive below.
