Croke Park in conjunction with Thornton’s Recycling and Green School, St Matthew’s National School, will be partnering up on Sunday 28th April 2013 to educate and inform spectators and visitors to Croke Park for the Allianz League Football Finals of recycling and waste management at the Stadium.

In 2012, Croke Park had a 73% recycling rate. The target for Croke Park is to have a 0% to landfill rate by the end of 2014. To achieve such an ambitious recycling rate one of the Stadium’s 2013 objectives is to educate its staff, users, visitors and spectators in the correct recycling behaviour when working or attending events at the Stadium.

Croke Park alongside Thornton’s Recycling and St Matthew’s National School will have teams of students from the schools Green School Committee located alongside recycling bins on the public levels on Sunday 28th April. The team’s which are being branded our ‘Green Ambassadors’ will be highly visible in Green t-shirts to engage with Matchday spectators around recycling practices and guiding them on the correct materials to place in recycling bins. Our ‘Green Ambassadors’ will also provide spectators with information on how they can assist Croke Park in becoming greener and to increase our recycling rate.
