Red Hot Chilli Peppers Announced for Croke Park

28th October 2011

Red Hot Chili Peppers will take to the stage at Croke Park, Dublin on 26 June 2012. Tickets go on sale at 8.00am next Friday 4 November 2011 from Ticketmaster

Following the recent release of their tenth studio album I’m With You earlier this year MCD is proud to announce that Red Hot Chili Peppers will return to Ireland in June 2012 to perform a massive open-air show — their only Irish date of 2012.

When Red Hot Chili Peppers take to the Croke Park stage next year it will be 20 years since they made their Irish concert debut with a performance at the SFX Dublin on 7 March, 1992. It began an unrivalled love affair between the band and Irish concert fans. In 2003 they returned to play a headline concert in front of a capacity 80,000 fans at the legendary concert venue of Slane Castle. The concert was released on their Live At Slane DVD. Then in 2004 the band made Irish concert history when they played to the biggest ever audience in Irish music history at the Phoenix Park, Dublin in front of a staggering 110,00 fans!

I’m With You is the band’s first new album since the two-set Stadium Arcadium - their first Number One album on the Los Angeles quartet’s home turf. The album spawned three Number One Modern Rock hits: “Dani California”, “Tell Me Baby,” and “Snow (Hey Oh).” To support Stadium Arcadium, the Chili Peppers played to millions of fans around the world throughout 2007, including sold-out arena tours of Ireland, Europe and North America, appearances at the Fuji Festival in Japan and Live Earth in London, and headlining slots at Lollapalooza in Chicago, and the Leeds and Reading Festivals in the U.K.

One of the most successful acts in rock history, Red Hot Chili Peppers have sold more than 60 million albums, including five multi-platinum LPs, and won six Grammy Awards, including "Best Rock Album" for Stadium Arcadium, "Best Rock Performance By a Duo or Group" for "Dani California,” "Best Rock Song" for "Scar Tissue," and "Best Hard Rock Performance With Vocal" for "Give It Away."
